Kia Ora,
I'm Haylee,
founder of NOD.

As a first-time mum to a gorgeous toddler. I’ve experienced the rollercoaster that is motherhood. Both beautiful and humbling, raw and messy.

The idea for NOD sparked during those early postpartum days. I found myself longing for an extra pair of hands, but it took some courage to admit I needed help, and to be okay with paying for it. Fast forward to the day I finally reached out to a few nannies in a Facebook community group, nervously asking for assistance. My son was just six weeks old, and I was exhausted from navigating colic, feedings, learning to settle him amongst sleepless nights. I was amazed when several nannies, all with years of experience, responded eagerly.

When those nannies showed up, my nerves disappeared. A few hours of support each week made a world of difference - not just practically but mentally. I learned so much from these experienced professionals, and more importantly, I realised that trusting a stranger to help care for my child was not only okay but crucial for my wellbeing, and he thrived getting to know them too! He's now a very social and confident little toddler who loves adventure. It was a revelation that sparked something deeper in me. I wanted to share this feeling of relief and empowerment with other parents.

As I began talking to other mums, I quickly discovered that this need for extra support extended far beyond the postpartum stage. Whether it’s a last-minute daycare stand-down, working from home, catching up on admin, or just needing a break for self-care, parents everywhere are craving flexibility. I knew then that this was a service not just for me but for many others like me.

The Bigger Vision Behind NOD
At its core, NOD is about more than just on-demand childcare, it’s about rebuilding trust within our communities. In 2024, we are more disconnected than ever, but I believe in a future where we can lean on each other to build the modern-day support network that parents deserve. Just like how Airbnb shifted the way we think about staying in strangers' homes, NOD is reimagining how we welcome help into our homes. My vision is that parents reach for NOD as often as they reach for thier daily coffee.
